Following a 50 year tradition, the readers of the Fantomen magazine have voted on what they think is their best adventure for 2024. 2024 saw a new voting system where the fan was able to vote for their 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourite story as well as giving some stories a negative vote. The results have been published in Fantomen 10-11/2025 and as always the discussion from what the fans voted on is always worth dissecting and looking into.
The top three stories published in Fantomen in 2024 as voted by the fans are:
"The Singh Raiders" written by Andreas Eriksson, with art by Ivan Rodriguez
"Curse of the Granite God, Part 1" written by Scott Goodall, with art by Kari Leppänen
"The Man Who Could Not Die" written by Idi Kharelli, with art by Georges Bess

The complete list of the 36 stories are listed below and a number of things caught the teams attention which the team highlight below:
All but one story received a vote and only three stories did not receive a 3 point vote (ie was their favourite story of the story). This shows that majority of the stories were hits and that they are catering for a wide audience of readers.
Out of the top 10 stories as voted as the best of 2024, only two were printed in a Fantomen magazine for the first time in "The Singh Raiders" written by Andreas Eriksson, with art by Ivan Rodriguez (voted best) and "The Killer and the Ghost, Part 1"written by Pidde Andersson, with art by Alex Saviuk (voted 10th best). Worth pointing out that much like the Frew results, the Fantomen readers like their stories created by their countrymen - both Andreas and Pidde are Swedish.
At first the lack of new stories in the top 10, may seem like a negative but in looking at the reprint stories, they all polled very well in their original first printed years results and are all time classics like "The Man Who Could Not Die", "Curse of the Granite God, Part 1 & 2", "Giovanna", and "Hero's Death Sentence".
Two of the short stories in "The New Clothes of the Ghost" by Jacob Habinc and Rafael Ruiz (voted 16th) and "Return of the Eastern Dark - Shameful Trade" by Duncan Munro and Daniel Picciotto (voted 29th) only received 4 votes as their first placed favourite story but received 20 votes as either their 2nd or 3rd favourite story of the year.
The story that received no votes was a Bastei reprint story "The Blackmailers of Paris" written by Peter Mennigen, with art by José María Ortiz Tafalla. The other Bastei reprint story "The Slaves" only received 7 votes. It will be interesting if the lack of interest by the readers see's the editors not printing anymore of their stories?
Of the international stories (created by non Fantomen creators), the best performing story is "Masks of the Phantom" which was a 2018 Lightning Strike Comics story, written by Arild Wærness and Mike Collins assisted by Knut Robert Knutsen, with art by Mike Collins.
"Phantom’s End", written by Tony DePaul and drawn by Mike Manley, Bret Blevins (uncredited) and Scott Cohn was the best performing newspaper story at 15th. Only one Lee Falk and Sy Barry story was printed in 2024.
We would like to see Fantomen continue with the top three voting as it showed that several stories that got 0 or few votes for the 3 point option were still quite popular and scored a lot of 2 or 1 points instead.
