If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend that you read this series in it's entirety. Don't be put off by it's subject matter - a 'zombie apocalypse' - as although zombies and their like have been done to death lately in pop culture (and the main reason I refused to read this series for years), this series is quite engrossing and inventive. The highlight would have to be the characterisation of the protagonists and it's dealing of adult themes - loss of innocence, survival, community, violence (domestic and cultural), family etc.
