Hi CaptHowdy, I am a fan of the moonstone issues myself, along with most of the other phantom publications past and present.

Considering that the forum has rebooted and we are starting with a clean slate it's probably a good idea to do a new introduction.

My name is Ben, I hail from Sydney town Australia, and am 27. I am a programmer / web developer by trade. Have also worked in graphic reproduction and interactive multimedia production; currently studying business.

I have been reading the phantom since the early 90s. Reading the strip / Frew issues was always something I looked forward to growing up. I honestly think that reading the strip influenced me to always do the right thing growing up … well at least it offset against the number of times I did the wrong thing … or at least I always felt a little bit bad after doing the wrong thing. Either way I do think the stories are a good influence.

I am working on building up a collection with a preference for older items. Although the going rate for some of the older stuff is usually well beyond my means.

I also enjoy real time strategy games, turn based strategy games, fitness/wellbeing activities, motorcycle riding, drums / music, a hundred other things and long walks on the beach.

Well, I had just introduced myself when the old forum was closen suddenly! I nearly thought I was damned

I'm Diego from Spain, a hobbyist artist who dreams of drawing the Phantom professionally in the future while studying an engineering. -.-

I was amazed when I discovered this site and all the fans of the Purpel guy! Good luck with the new website!

Sorry about closing the fourm on you, Digodiego. I felt it best, though all things considered.

Still, you're here now on our brand new site and brand new forums so I hope you enjoy your time here.

I'm Grit.

I posted on the previous version of the forum under the same name, so I'll happily assume that the regulars will remember my background etc. But a quick refresher on myself and where I stand all things Phantom:

- Wrong side of 25 / right side of 30, a phan for 20 odd years, and a collections that's ever growing.
- From God's Own (WA).
-Thinks that if more people took their morality cues from The Phantom then I would be out of a job (hint hint).
- Loves the current Daily/Sunday strips re. author and artist; thinks that FREW is past it's use by date in terms of quality and editorial control; believes the stuff coming out of Europe to be tired and stagnant; and knows that the future lies with HP's collected editions and a shakeup on the comics scene (a la DE, which is doing a bang up job in my opinion).

Hi All,

I was born in Albury, NSW, Australia but moved to Canberra in 2004. I was a massive Phantom fan during the 1990s (actually from probably the late 1980s right through until about 2002), though kind of dropped out of the scene once university kicked in.

Over the past four or five years, I've tried a few times to get back into things, though this usually only lasts a couple of months (and to be honest, now is probably another one of those times).

I've kept my collection though, and often buy a few more comics to fill holes that have appeared (especially with the new releases which I'm constantly missing out on). Recently though I've kind of rekindled my passion for original art, and have started looking at buying some more (and reorganising what I already have).

For the past 12 years or so I've been kind of obsessed with researching the Second World War in the Pacific, and since 2006 have been working on a database of missing Allied service personnel during that conflict (http://www.projectpriam.com). This interest has led me on two trips to the jungles of Papua New Guinea (in 2005 and 2006).

I'll no doubt drop in and out of the forum, so apologies in advance if it takes some time for me to respond...

Cheers,

Daniel

Welcome Daniel!

I've had similar instances where I've come in and out of various hobbies. Comics is actually the only once that's been a constant for me. Still, even if you're not buying the comics doesn't mean you can't still chat about the character so you're welcome here any time. Hope you enjoy your stay. :)
